Gerrard boost, 30-goal striker target “would choose Rangers”

|

Rangers have been linked with a number of forwards already for next season, even though the transfer market is still some months away from opening.

The prospect of Champions League football is now a huge benefit, not just financially but in terms of being able to attract players to the club and Kevin Campbell, speaking to Football Insider, believes that this could be the difference between the Light Blues and Sheffield United as we look to persuade Jonson Clarke-Harris to head north:

“100 per cent Rangers are a more attractive proposition than Sheffield United. There is no doubt about that in my mind.

“If Jonson Clarke-Harris moved to Rangers he would have the opportunity to play Champions League football next season. Let’s not forget they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“That is a big draw and so is playing for Steven Gerrard. That is one of the main reasons why they appointed Gerrard, players want to play for him.

“I have no doubt that he would choose Rangers over Sheffield United in the Championship if both made an offer for him.”

We might not be able to compete in terms of wages with Premier League clubs, but Campbell is right, having played with big clubs himself he knows the size of Rangers and how well respected they are throughout Europe – especially after the performances of the last couple of years.

Clarke-Harris, with 30 goals this season, will no doubt have plenty of admirers but none of them will be able to offer Champions League football working under one of England’s most respected figures in Steven Gerrard – we should make the most of having both bargaining chips available to us while we can.
