Scotland struggled for goals in the European Championships and the lack of any real creativity, that they conceded five goals in two games at Hampden didn’t exactly help either.
One player who could have made a difference is Ryan Gauld, a player who as said he would “consider” joining Rangers, but if we are to sign a player deemed good enough for Portugal’s team of the year – in a side that got relegated – then we will have to move fast, according to a report in The Daily Record.
The Farense midfielder is out of contract now and is a long term Vital Rangers favourite, his ability to play either as a number eight or number ten makes him perfectly suited to our formation, as is the fact that he is available for free.
This has alerted a host of clubs with the latest name added to a long list said to be MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps who, as claimed by the Record, are offering the former Dundee United wonderkid £43,000 per week, significantly more than he would have on the table to move to Ibrox.
His most likely destination remains somewhere on the continent, teams in Spain and Portugal will have taken notice of his ability to find team-mates from both open and set play, the proverbial “wand of a left foot”, that he has done this at an unfashionable club only serves further notice of his quality.
His contract expires on 1st July 2021 & there has been 40/45 clubs on the table.
Every one of Europe’s top leagues represented in those discussions, mainly in some form of European Cup comp this season as well.

Hopefully he doesn’t see money as being the be all and end all, it would be a shame to see him leave these continental shores, that the Scots Abroad Podcast has him with 40-45 options says it all – it’s just a shame Steve Clarke didn’t see what the rest of us could.
