French report details Gers target lined up to replace Morelos as 21 y/o international tops list

Get French Football News has followed up their report on the Alfredo Morelos to Lille story with further details on the man Rangers are lining up as his replacement.

Stories originating from France at the weekend claimed that the Colombian international had already agreed personal terms with the Ibrox side, however, the club denied that any talks had taken place other than that an offer had been made for the striker which was deemed to be below their asking price.

The Athletic broke the specifics of the proposed deal with the Ligue 1 outfit said to have offered £13million plus add ons for the 29-goal striker with Rangers previously valuing Morelos at £20m.

On Maja, Get French Football News claims that the 21-year old – who has previously been the subject of interest from Rangers – is the man identified with following in Morelos’s footsteps and the Gers are tipped to begin talks this week.

The Bordeaux striker – ironically signed when they were linked with Morelos – posts a respectable goal every 112 minutes despite finding his first-team chances limited to starting just 21% of their league fixtures.

In what season did Steven Gerrard make his Liverpool debut?

The London born Nigeria international secured his move to France on the back of his 2018/19 campaign at Sunderland when he fired 15 goals in 24 games as a teenager, with just six months left on his deal the League 1 side decided to cash in when it was revealed that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract – interestingly, the player shares the same agents as Joe Aribo and recently departed Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo.

Gerrard has spoken of his need to get additional firepower in to the club and this will only have been amplified given the reported interest in his star man, Gers fans would be hoping for at least two strikers to arrive before Morelos is allowed to leave given Jermain Defoe’s current availability and they may yet see new faces before the domestic campaign kicks-off against Aberdeen on Saturday.
