Rangers fans could be set for a late flurry in the transfer window, Amand Diallo unlikely to be the last signing that Ross Wilson makes over the coming days, according to recent reports.

Long-term target Danilho Doekhi has spoken before about our interest in securing him on a pre-contract agreement and it looks as though we could soon find out whether or not we have been successful in our bid.

The Glasgow Times claims that the towering defender is “on the verge” of making his decision and that it is a two horse race between Rangers and Dinamo Zagreb – I don’t want to count our chickens but, with a Dutch coaching staff, I’d fancy our chances.

With John Souttar already signed up for next season, it looks as though one of two things is definitely happening; either the recruitment team knows that Connor Goldson is leaving or Leon Balogun isn’t getting his contract extended and we are reducing the age profile of the squad.

Calvin Bassey’s form at centre-half has come at a bad time for Balogun, we now know that he can be trusted to deputise in that position if he is needed, for all that he remains first choice to cover Borna Barisic, it means that we don’t need as many senior players in the middle and the 33-year old’s contract status might go against him.

Every successful Rangers team has been built on a solid defence, it’s what won 55 and was the first thing Steven Gerrard addressed – Giovanni van Bronckhorst also made subtle tactical tweaks to stop conceding as many goals, hopefully Doekhi decides he wants to be part of the Dutch revolution too.
