It was a disappointing return to the ground formerly known as Pride Park for manager Ally McCoist, as Rangers went down two nil on the day and that wasn’t the only problem that came from the game.

The Chris Martin goals consigned us to our second defeat of pre season at the iPro Stadium but there would’ve been heart from our competitive nature on the day, until the point we went behind and lost defender Bilel Mohsni to a red as he lashed out at the goalscorer on the day.

The play in general, with the competitive season only a few days away now, would’ve been somewhat a source of pleasure for the gaffer though.

Rangers:

Bell, McGregor, McCulloch, Mohsni, Wallace (Templeton 68), Hutton (Boyd 61), Black, Macleod, Law, Aird (Smith 61), Miller (Zaliukas 77).

Subs:

Simonsen, Crawford, Shiels, Gallagher.

A furious McCoist spoke to the official site following the game as it pertained to Mohsni, who he didn’t acknowledge as he left the pitch, and Rangers are now waiting to find out if he will suffer punishment following the piece of violent conduct where he butted Martin in his midriff.

‘It’s indefensible really. To be honest, I actually didn’t see it at the time because it was that daft and the game was going on. I think the boy has blocked him but Bilel’s reaction was unacceptable and he let the boys down. We were looking for more from him than that and we’ve had a wee chat in the dressing room about it. He knows he was wrong and that he let both himself and his team mates down, and he has got to learn from it.’

McCoist adds that the coming campaign is a ‘massive’ season for the club and as we work through it we can certainly do with ‘stupid suspensions’ like that.
