Top scorer Jon Daly will have tonight been presented with the Sam English Bowl for ending this season as our leading league goalscorer, but despite his joy at this, he does know he should’ve really scored more given the chances that he has had over the course of the season.

With 20 goals in the League and a further five in other competitions, for his first season at the club a total of 25 goals hasn’t been a bad return at all.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of tonight’s Player of the Season dinner, he explained.

‘It was nice to hit 25 goals. I would probably have liked to have hit a few more but you always want more from yourself. I’ll still take the total I reached and hopefully I’ll build on it and improve on it when we come back for next year.’

As for the Dunfermline game, Daly goes on to say that it’s quite remarkable really that this was the first time we have dropped points away from home this season in the league and he knows it’s a fantastic achievement to have gone through the season unbeaten, but everyone in the dressing room did feel disappointed that we didn’t end the campaign with another victory and a better performance, and he feels the game should’ve gone differently for us because he’s convinced he should’ve had a penalty in the second half and he couldn’t quite believe why the referee didn’t award it.

He also adds that the corner that led to their goal he doesn’t believe was a corner either, and the referee’s performance was something that manager Ally McCoist picked up on commenting that there were a number of decisions that were made that he disagreed with on the day.
