Former Hibernian and Rangers loan striker, Jason Cummings, didn’t have the best of times at Ibrox during his spell in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.

Mixed performances and questionable first team selections at the time left a number of fans feeling he was never really given a chance to impress, but he did still chip in with 6 goals in nine starts and nine substitute showings.

Ultimately, despite having the option to turn his deal permanent, we let him return to Nottingham Forest and he now finds himself plying his trade in League One for Shrewsbury Town.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live this week, the 24-year-old admitted that he was disappointed not to have signed for us permanently, but having been let go and then with us bringing in Jermain Defoe, he isn’t really in a position to complain about things.

“But the next week I saw that he had signed Jermain Defoe, and I couldn’t really complain. Considering he’s one of the best goalscorers in the world, I had to take that one on the chin.”

Reflecting on his short spell with us, he explained.

“When I went to Rangers, even now, to this day, I can’t believe I played for them. They are that big a club. I am just proud that I played for them. I scored a hat-trick at Ibrox as well (Falkirk – Scottish Cup) and I will always cherish that. I didn’t play as much as I wanted at Rangers but I prefer playing two up. It was hard when they didn’t want to keep me. I wanted to stay at Rangers and I tried my best to get back there. But everything happens for a reason.”
