Rangers slumped to defeat against Young Boys on Thursday night with the game finely poised for much of the match.
Realistically, we should be talking about a result that the Gers got in Bern on Thursday because, though the game was far from a classic, we were good value for a draw at least.
However, at the final moment James Tavernier dropped an absolute clanger with the way he went for an aerial ball, allowing Young Boys in to fire past Allan McGregor.
It was a far from good moment from the full-back who has done so much well this season but, let’s be honest, that is largely in the offensive areas.
In defensive terms he has again been left wanting and, unfortunately, he’s been hammered on social media since the mistake.
Let’s take a look at what has been said on social media since the result against the Swiss side…

I spent most of the 2nd half defending Tav but he’s cost us massively tonight, at fault for both goals and in truth he’s been poor all season. Small margins cost us, if their keeper doesn’t pull off a wonder save from Morelos on the 89th minute we win the game and top the group.

Tavernier a nightmare tonight. Brutal defending for both goals.
