Rangers Word On The Tweet

Captain courageous strikes again – “Welcome back skipper”, Tavernier returns to form and loads of Gers fans love to see it

James Tavernier revealed in the pre-match press conference for the visit of Aberdeen that he was still the man in charge of spot kicks for Rangers, the Gers skipper didn’t disappoint, dispatching two past Joe Lewis in a brutal 5-0 win.

Having missed his last two, against Progres Niederkorn and Feyenoord, Tavernier was under pressure to relinquish penalty taking duties to Alfredo Morelos but Rangers gaffer, Steven Gerrard, left the decision to his captain.

The missed penalties have attracted more attention than the fact Tavernier has still got 6 assists to his name this season despite not reaching the same level of performance as last year.

With the score at 0-0, Rangers were awarded their first penalty after a crude challenge on Morelos. You would forgive Tavernier for passing the buck but showing true leadership qualities, he stood up and emphatically buried the ball into the top corner.

Rangers fans took to twitter to show their support for the man with the armband.

As usual, the gifs came out when simple words just weren’t enough!
