Rangers closed the gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday. A statement of a performance from the Ibrox club.
Aberdeen were something of a jinx team for Rangers last season, knocking them out of both domestic cup competitions and causing them problems throughout the league campaign. The pattern of these games would see the Gers dominate only to be undone by a set-piece or goal against the run of play.
There was also the small issue of Alfredo Morelos, the talismanic striker so frequently the hero, was sent off in two of the games against the Pittodrie side. Yes, they were two soft red cards with one rescinded, but he still gave the referee a decision to make on each occasion.
Many Rangers fans felt that they were due to give Aberdeen a hiding and took great satisfaction in sharing this message on social media after such a thumping win.
As easy a game as I can remember against that lot. Could have been 7 or 8, they got off light.
