Joe Aribo has finally finished his marathon 2021/22 season after playing a whopping 70 games, with a message to the fans.

The Nigeria international will be very glad for a rest or downtime on holiday following on from the camp with his national side which extended his season into June.

Having given so much for club and country over the last 12 months, Aribo’s rest and recovery programme for the next few weeks will need to be managed carefully so that there are no adverse effects, something that the backroom team at Auchenhowie will be well on top of.

The forward took to his social media accounts late on Tuesday, sending the following message to the fans:

The London-born player is now heading into his fourth season at Ibrox, with a crucial contract situation looming fast.

For Rangers sake, the player needs to commit to extension on his deal so that their asset is protected. Interest could yet emerge this Summer to test Rangers resolve and if that comes from the Premier League, it would be difficult for both parties to resist as long as the figures are right.

No-one will be in hurry to see Aribo leave, but his situation as a key player is one that will need to be sorted sooner rather than later. That is just one of the to-do items on a long list facing sporting director Ross Wilson in the coming weeks and months. It will be an intriguing one for the make-up of the Rangers squad but replenishment is definitely more likely than overhaul, as much as some change is to be expected.
