Third choice, waste of space, not what we need – just some of the early remarks made toward Antonio Čolak but now the criticism has turned to admiration as the Croatian international can’t stop scoring.

He is now just one more strike away from levelling his total of eight goals for the entire 2021/22 season. Just three of those came whilst in Greece with PAOK whilst the other five were in Champions League qualifying last Summer…and we know all about two of those.

Just how can such a potent striker relatively fail in a league such as Greece yet he is now looking like the Malmo dangerman and more, as we first witnessed a year ago. Football is indeed, a funny old game.

Čolak’s first brace in Rangers colours today against Ross County follows on from his goals against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock. That can be added to individual goals in three consecutive games in Europe, putting him on to seven.

He has scored in every home game so far this term and was wrongly penalised at Livingston on the opening day of the Premiership campaign. No wonder the German-born 28-year old is absolutely loving life at Ibrox.

Earlier today, he further underlined his ability and prowess as a penalty box striker with two finely taken chances. The first showed a delicacy as well as technique whilst the second was a clinical finish from a flamboyant, flowing team effort.

Tony Goals, Golak, poacher, finisher, peanlty box striker. Call him what you will, everyone is hearing the name of Rangers’ Antonio Čolak.
