After a small flurry of activity before the transfer window officially opened at the beginning of this month, things have gone eerily quiet at Ibrox, not just in terms of rumours but also in terms of players putting pen to paper on new contracts, apprehension about possibly losing our best players never far from mind.

One such player is Alfredo Morelos who is into the last 12 months of a contract that he has had improved on a couple of occasions to reflect his value and importance to the team and has seen speculation start to resurface about his future.

Speaking on The Rangers Review’s YoutTube channel, Joshua Barrie has agreed with out opinion at Vital Rangers that he could well be next to sign on the dotted line:

“He’s probably the most likely of those three to stay. Van Bronckhorst, certainly in the initial few months, I think brought out arguably the best Morelos that we’ve ever seen at Ibrox.

“I think he’s obviously a bit more of a complete player now.

“He also seems more settled than he ever has before.

“I think if he were to stay, that would give everyone a real boost before the season were to start. And I think he’ll see with Van Bronckhorst and Roy Makaay, and the type of football that’s being introduced at Ibrox and being developed, he can play some of his best football here, and the evidence of that is the football he was playing just before his injury.”

I totally agree with Barrie, the one point that stands out is about him being the main man, when Van Bronckhorst arrived Morelos looked out of shape and uninterested but was transformed at the opportunity to spend more time inside and less time outside the box, Makaay being heavily credited for the upturn in the striker’s form.

Not only is he loved by the management team but he is clearly adored by the fans too, it would be a big risk to up sticks and become just another player when he is idolised by so many here, when you add this to him getting to play in massive European games and getting call ups for Colombia, other than for financial reasons  -and maybe the weather – he has no reason to leave a club that clearly means as much to him as it does to us.
