On Sunday at Ibrox, there will be a noticeable increase in the presence of stewards and police thanks to the ‘vaccine passport’ system that has been implemented by the Scottish government.

Rangers and other Premiership clubs have been hit with a new set of demands and guidelines, in order to implement the new legislation which will mean anyone who has not been double vaccinated (or is not exempt) will not be allowed to enter stadiums, gigs, and other large scale events in Scotland.

A ‘grace period’ has been added into the mix causing some confusion but this will only apply to enforcement of the legislation – set to be delayed by a fornight – but the actual plan goes ahead as of tomorrow.

Information to the public has been sketchy to say the least and incredibly, there are no drop-in vaccine services available today in Glasgow – the nearest service is in Paisley.

Now from a Rangers perspective, not all fans will be travelling from inside the city boundary but surely with a high profile game against Hibs, there could have been other services set up with other events in mind too, in order to get the information out there and to provided help to people.

Unfortunately not.

Appointments can still be made for one of the six clinics throughout the city, however time is not on the side of people ahead of tomorrow.

It has not yet been made clear as to what the actual purpose of the vaccine passport system will be, with critics dismissing it as a form of coercive control, taking events and enjoyment away from people who have chosen not to be vaccinated for whatever reason.

In the battle for hearts and minds, it is fair to say that there is still work to do as many reluctantly complying in order to maintain access to their hobbies and passions.
