The tough February for Rangers continues against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Wednesday night. Alex McLeish is again under pressure after an embarrasing 3-0 defeat to Hibernian at the weekend and probably the last thing he needed was a midweek trip to his old stomping ground, always a tough place for Rangers to get a result.

Rangers went down 3-2 the last time the two teams met at Pittodrie back in August of this season. Peter Lovenkrands scored a sensational overhead kick that day but it wasn’t enough to stop Aberdeen bagging all three points and that game was to prove a sign of things to come this season.

Aberdeen themselves are in poor form at the moment and like Rangers also went down 3-0 in the cup at the weekend but form usually goes out of the window in this fixture as Aberdeen never make it easy for Rangers.

Hopefully the game will pass peacefully as the last few visits have resulted in unsavoury incidents such as a fan running onto the pitch to attack Fernando Ricksen and the same player the victim of a coin throwing incident.

This is a must win game for Rangers, catching Celtic in the league is a tall order but it isn’t impossible so we must win ALL games in the league.

It would also be a huge morale boost going into the upcoming games with Celtic, Hibernian and Villareal.

Aberdeen Team News:

Aberdeen are boosted by the return of midfielders Gary Dempsey and Neil MacFarlane but are without defenders Michael Hart, Richie Byrne and Andrew Considine.

2-2.
