Since 2012 there has been very little that the BBC and Rangers have agreed with, however, in a rare showing of solidarity Steven Thompson, formerly of the Ibrox parish, has backed their claims that Celtic shouldn’t be crowned champions if the 2019/20 season isn’t played to completion.
Speaking about the recent crisis on the BBC Scottish football podcast (and reported in The Daily Record), Thompson feels that deserving to win the title and actually winning it are two completely different things:
βI knew they were going to win the league but I donβt think you can give a team the title without having played out the season.β
With the current saga surrounding the SPFL, the discussion of awarding Celtic the title had gone quiet with relegation remaining the primary problem that needs to be resolved.
Rangers fans responded to Thompson’s comments in total agreement about how valid “9-in-a-row” really is.
He knows it. We all do! “9 in a row is deed mate”

I find it hard to think the club would accept it either or recognition of just handing a title out.

And if itβs decided that they are chosen as Champions. It doesnβt add as nine in a row.

The sesean is void, ( take out the money and the remove the emotions and only one decision you can possibly come to and that is void like any race or competion if incomplete it’s void

The SPFL have already set a precedent by declaring Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers as champions in the lower leagues and, unfortunately, it appears as if it is only a matter of time before the Premiership takes the same route, regardless of how valid it might be.
