Of particular interest was the prominent involvement of Alex Lowry, Charlie McCann and also Zak Lovelace. The trio have obvious potential but up to now, there has been no significant breakthrough as much as it is a tough task at Ibrox.
As well as Beale, Neil Banfield, Damian Matthew and Harry Watling have come in from QPR where there was a youthful element to the first team squad as well as an onus on developing youth. That experience will be tested in a more harsh environment in Glasgow, with the added pressure and expectation that comes at Rangers.
If the young players are deemed good enough, they will get a chance. Some patience will be required from the stands, just like with Leon King who has played a bit more than anticipated in recent months. Keeping the conveyor belt of talent coming through is crucial for Rangers in terms of sustainability and later on, player trading.
Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey showed what is possible in the different ways of bringing through youth, the next prospects must seize the opportunities available.
