Rangers got a late winner in the Glasgow derby against Queens Park today thanks to young substitute Fraser Aird. The young Canadian, only 17 years of age, came off the bench to net the winner when it looked like heading for a 0-0 draw.

A tired looking Rangers side could not find a break through against the amateur team who had been reduced to ten men after Brough was sent off for a second yellow card in the 56th minute. The Spiders had a couple of good chances themselves and probably deserved a draw but we will gladly take the victory.

A crowd of 30,117 took in the game at the home of Queens Park, the national stadium at Hampden. The crowd would have been a lot higher but the North Stand was closed as Hampden gets prepared for the 2014 commonwealth games. A running track is being put in.

It looked like the game was going to end in a 0-0 draw but two minutes into injury time and Rangers got a corner. The corner was defended but the ball broke to Aird just outside the box, the youngster who’s father was a season ticket holder at Ibrox before emigrating to Canada, took a good first touch and then curled the ball inside the Spiders left hand post to give Rangers victory and ten wins in a row to take control of the third division title race.
