‘Worth about £12m’ – Gerrard was happy to single out Rangers star for huge praise despite defeat

|

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was delighted by the performance of Ryan Kent on Sunday despite defeat at Celtic Park, as reported by The Daily Record.

The on-loan Liverpool man was at his sparkling best throughout the encounter and in the second half particularly almost dragged the Gers to a famous away victory.

There weren’t many silver linings to take from the loss, but Kent was certainly one.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the Ibrox boss said of his performance:

He was excellent. It’s been in the papers all week about how he’s worth about £12m and it’s because of performances like that. I’m glad he’s getting that recognition. He was outstanding.

When you are looking for people and asking who’s with me, when the challenge is more difficult at 10 men, to a man they were all with me.

They were all with the fans, with Rangers. Ryan Kent stood out amongst that. He’s just a quality player.

Sadly Kent will now likely be suspended after expected Scottish FA retrospective action for a punch on Scott Brown and he will also be returning to Liverpool at the end of his loan.

That means he may only have a handful of performances left at Rangers and yesterday may well be his last high profile one.

Whether we can sort out a return for him in pre-season remains to be seen, but you’d expect Jurgen Klopp to at least take a look at him during Liverpool summer training camps.

Enjoy him while he’s here.
