As Nathan Patterson’s progression continues on an upward curve, interest in the Scotland right-back will only intensify.

According to The Sun though, one side has pulled out of the running for his signature with Liverpool said to be no longer monitoring his position at Rangers, leaving the way clear for city rivals Everton who could, if the report is accurate, be preparing an eight-figure bid:

“Everton will get a clear run at signing Rangers starlet Nathan Patterson in the next transfer window as rivals Liverpool won’t bid.

SunSport exclusively revealed the Reds’ initial interest in the Light Blues right-back – who they had been tracking since the start of the year.

“But it was Toffees boss Rafa Benitez who made his move but could not agree a fee last month. Then the 19-year-old was sidelined by illness.

“Rangers want over £10million and the EPL outfit are willing to pay.”

It’s not quite clear what sort of fee Rangers would want for a player who’s international and club manager have both hailed as being a special talent, Steven Gerrard going as far as to claim he has the best Scottish right-back in Patterson and best full-back in Scotland in James Tavernier.

Ross Wilson has a tough decision to make because for all that Patterson is going to be a star, if we sold him, the first XI wouldn’t be any weaker by his absence and the captain has a good few years ahead of him yet – his goal against St Johnstone also proving that his talents are far from on the wain.

If Everton really do want Patterson to replace Seamus Coleman they will need to pay a hefty price, regardless of his experience and the number of games that he has played, the 19-year old has proven that he is headed for the top.
