Borna Barisic hasn’t taken long to impress Rangers supporters after an excellent first 45 minutes on his debut at Ibrox this afternoon.

Steven Gerrard wasted no time in throwing him into the starting eleven after he signed last week and it’s paying off so far.

The Croatian has been crucial in establishing the 2-0 half-time lead against St Mirren, getting forward with pace and power and producing a solid delivery in the final third too.

It was his cross from a set-piece that allowed Connor Goldson to head home for the second of the afternoon, after Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring with a cool finish.

Of course, it isn’t Barisic’s first game at Ibrox this season after shining for Osijek when the Croatian side visited Glasgow a couple of weeks ago.

His performances in that tie led to his move to Rangers and although it’s clearly very early in his career at the club, his capture looks to be an inspired bit of business.

These fans have decided he is a great buy already, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…

  • Barisic is a great player, and glad we have signed him on a 4 year deal. The best left back we have had in a long time. McCrory needs to be careful. We all want our players to put in hard tackles–but it must be very hard and fair. We all know that if you give the referee a decision to make it will normally go against Rangers. We see it every week–some much worse decisions than others. We still need Lafferty, and we still need a good back up centre back in case Goldstein or Kavic get injured. Still expect Rangers to win even playing most of the game with 10 men. However–we could have won by a much bigger score if we had 11 men on the park.
