Rangers produced an accomplished performance to successfully negotiate a tricky Scottish League Cup tie against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

A classy hat-trick from Alfredo Morelos delivered the 3-1 victory, but it was an all-round performance that had many supporters buzzing. Plenty are letting themselves become excited about what’s ahead in the Steven Gerrard era.

Not only are the new summer signings looking the part, it’s also great to see Gerrard’s influence clearly improve existing players from last season.

One of those turning around perception of his ability is Andy Halliday, who was superb alongside Scott Arfield in the Rangers midfield against Kilmarnock.

This time last year it looked like his Ibrox career was over, but he’s worked hard to force his way back into first-team plans and Gerrard has clearly found something in the 26-year-old.

Having been much criticised so far in his Rangers career, many supporters took to Twitter to share their positive thoughts on his performance at Rugby Park…
