Rangers have announced their fourth signing of the summer with the news that Wales international winger, Rabbi Matondo, has joined on a 4-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Previous reports have suggested that around £2million is what we will need to pay for the rapid 21-year old with Rangers dropping a lunchtime teaser about his possible announcement.

On paper, it looks like that is the right-wing position filled and all that remains now is to strengthen the midfield in Joe Aribo’s absence, particularly in terms of a number ten. Ianis Hagi won’t be back for a while, Alex Lowry has only just broken into the first-team and Scott Arfield, despite playing there regularly, is not suitable for the role.

As well as being an upgrade on what we currently have, Matondo will bring a secondary benefit in that teams will no longer be able to, or will have to work extremently hard to, double up on Ryan Kent, having a threat on either flank should see us create more chances and, hopefully, score more goals.

Most of the hard work has been done in bringing in Tom Lawrence, Antonio Colak and now Matondo, so we should be in decent shape for the Champions League qualifiers, it’s just a shame that so many key players are still not fully fit from last season, however, Gio’s revolution is starting to take shape.
