Following on from the announcement about Jermain Defoe, Rangers had another treat in store for fans on Sunday evening as after the endless speculation linking us with a return for Steven Davis, we also announced his arrival from Southampton.

Davis has long been linked with a return to Ibrox and as the January window neared, the speculation on the rumour mill certainly went up a notch or two. With Southampton themselves talking up the potential of helping a deal to go through given his service to them, yesterday evening we confirmed his return on a half season loan spell – and come next summer he’s naturally out of contract anyway.

The deal is naturally subject to international clearance, but the Northern Ireland international is going to have no problems there.

Fans were delighted to get their wish and the chance to finally welcome him back home and he’ll be another massive addition for manager Steven Gerrard in the second half of the year.
