Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has spoken of his hunger and desire for his team to secure the Scottish Premiership title at the earliest opportunity.

At the press conference today, ahead of the game v Livingston tomorrow – 1800 kick-off – the manager was speaking about how his team have met the challenges in front of them so far this season and how eager everyone inside the Rangers camp is, to get the job done.

When asked about the excitement of the month ahead and how he views the importance of March, Gerrard responded:

“Well I think this season, because of how last year finished and the two before that, every month has been extremely important.”

“Everyone thinks that March is going to be the pivotal month but if I can take you back to the start of the season, we started ever so strongly, then we had to build on that, then people told me we would have to have a real positive Christmas period and then all of a sudden January was the key month because we had Aberdeen away, Hibs away, the Old Firm game.”

Gerrard repeated that theme talking about February and into the present of March with the chance to become champions as well as the glamour of the Europa League Last 16 enconter against Slavia Prague.

“Every month this season has been key and important but we have completed them all because we have been consistent, hungry and we’ve got the right results,” continued the Gers boss.

“The only setback we have had is St. Mirren (League Cup defeat) which is a phenomenal season so far.”

“March presents the opportunity to get over the line in terms of the league, we want to go and grab that as quick as we can. We don’t want to wait, we don’t want to stumble, we want to go and win this league and that starts tomorrow in terms of our performance against Livingston.”

The finish line is now in sight, Rangers require just a seven point swing for the league title to come back to Ibrox.

From Gerrard’s words, the intensity and desire is tangible which will drip down on to his players.

Having come so close up to now, they aren’t going to decline the opportunity to take full advantage, commencing with Livi who will be licking their wounds from the disappointment of their League Cup Final defeat on Sunday to St. Johnstone at Hampden.

Their response will be interesting but expect Rangers to have too much power and momentum, as long as the application is correct.

The wait is almost over.
