We were expecting another win on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t to be. The Gers fell short against Aberdeen, and at the end of the game, we certainly got what we deserved.

It’s been a while since we’ve performed so badly, and it’s clear that serious improvement is needed.

Fortunately, it appears as though the players recognise the issues at hand, as Gareth McAuley has issued an honest verdict following the game. Rangers shared a clip of him discussing the loss on Twitter, which can be viewed in full below.

McAuley noted: “We let our standards slip…It’s important that we move forward and put a performance in on Saturday and build again”.

Rangers have been playing well this season, and so to be honest, one poor result isn’t the end of the world, and it can be tolerated. Clearly, though, McAuley has taken the result very personally, and he’s not happy at all.

No excuses are being made by him here, he’s straight to the point and recognising the need to improve – and that’s exactly what we need to do this weekend.

We can’t afford to drop points again if we have aspirations of winning the title. Our game against Dundee is a game that we should be able to bag a victory in, and the boys need to make that happen.

Thoughts?
