Former Rangers star Derek Ferguson is ‘not a fan’ of winger Eros Grezda after a disappointing debut season at Ibrox, speaking on online football show Open Goal.

Grezda arrived at Ibrox in a multi-million pound deal last summer, one of Steven Gerrard’s marquee signings in an exceptionally busy transfer window.

Hopes were high he could make a big attacking impact at the club but his season has been dominated by injury issues and inconsistent form.

Ferguson reckons Rangers’ resources could have been used more constructively, telling Open Goal: “Not a fan of Grezda. They supposedly spent £2 million on him. I think that money could have been spent elsewhere.”

Grezda has played just 17 times, scoring two goals and assisting once, so he clearly has a point.

His status in the Rangers team going forward is surely in doubt, with Gerrard making it clear that he won’t be accepting any passengers as part of his first-team squad.

We need every played in that team pulling in the same direction next season or we can kiss our trophy ambitions goodbye.

The injuries may not have been Grezda’s fault necessarily, but if he is not robust enough to play consistently in the Scottish Premiership, he must be moved on.
