Rangers Word On The Tweet

‘Waste of wages’ – Many Rangers fans aren’t convinced by potential signing of 6ft 3in colossus

Rangers have again been linked with a move for Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel this January, months after heavy speculation he could be set for a reunion with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard.

Turkish outlet Fanatik claims that Gerrard has been in touch with the former Liverpool stopper about a potential move to Glasgow, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season.

Despite being 34 years of age, Skrtel continues to play at a good level, with his experience and quality potential being a fantastic capture in the middle of a title race with Celtic.

However, the whole thing does seem far fetched, with Rangers unlikely able to match the wages on offer to the 6ft 3in defender.

Rangers supporters aren’t convinced at all the move will come off and some even feel like we shouldn’t be spending serious wages on a player entering the twilight stages of his career.

It’s one to watch before the end of January.
