Skipper Lee Wallace has been in front of the press following his third goal in the three one victory over Falkirk at the weekend.

There are a couple of different articles on the Official Site that carry quotes from the player, so speaking firstly about the victory and another three points for Rangers so far this year, he explained.

‘We`re delighted and we`re more than happy with the result and the fact that`s us a quarter of a way though the campaign already and have played every opponent and we`ve beaten them. It`s nine from nine, twenty-seven points and we have to be proud of that.’

Wallace went on to say that obviously with the quality we have at the club and being the club we are we should be performing at a higher level but he didn’t believe that should take away any of the pride the players feel given their start to this year in the Championship.

‘We`re well aware that the performance was probably not quite to the levels that we`d expect. We`re going to come up against these awkward game plans from teams and we just have to stay patient. We will never deviate from how we want to play and no matter how long that it takes in a game for us to go and get the three points, we`ll just keep going and going, playing the way we know best. That`s the evidence out there that games will be like that, they`ll be tense, but I thought that the lads showed great courage today. We kept probing, we kept moving the ball, our rhythm wasn`t bad and we had a good couple of chances.’

Part of that obviously is going nine for nine so far with our 100% and he knows that’s something to be proud of at any level in the game because it’s incredibly difficult to do against sides who want to stifle you or raise their game because of who we are.

Another interview saw him asked about the fans this year and he said that the support against Falkirk was identical to other games this year and he couldn’t thank them enough.

‘The fans are right behind us and it`s been a feature of the campaign so far, everywhere that we`ve went, whether it`s away from home or here at Ibrox they`ve been superb. Obviously the fans will be tense at times and that`s completely understandable and it`s up to us as players to reverse that and get them doing what they do best, because it has a great knock on affect when if we do what we can do, they can do what they do best. It`s great again and what we have to stress is that whilst we know that we can perform better, but we need to enjoy these moments, perhaps more so for the guys in the dressing room who have maybe suffered a little in the last couple of years. We`ve got to savour those moments. We did that at the weekend and it`s nice to come off the pitch again and be applauding the fans because rightly so they deserve every bit of success that they get and we will do our best for them between now and the end of the season.’

As for his goal on the day, he typically played it down.

‘It was another lucky one, kind of like my Livingston goal where I`ve actually managed to shoot though a couple of bodies. It was good to see it hit the back of the net. I actually got a bit of a fright because it`s not normal for me that I score those kinds of goals! After I scored, I`ve ran away to the fans and it was similar to the goal that I scored in the Old Firm because it was the same stand, but not quite on that level though. Running away and seeing all of those fans was a really nice moment again. I`m just more than happy to get nine wins from nine and we can move into a little break now, recharge the batteries then make an assault on the next part of the season.’

With goals being talked of, Wallace also said that he and James Tavernier wouldn’t be getting carried away with their goal returns so far this season because it’s down to them to do their jobs in a team game and whoever scores, it’s the points that are important.

‘I think that Tav and me need to make sure that we focus entirely on doing what we can to contribute to the team as best we can. It`s been an added bonus that we`ve been able to chip in with the goals that we have, but first and foremost we realise our jobs within the team.’

Wallace went on to add about the spirit and togetherness of the camp under the new gaffer.

‘There isn`t just one or two individuals within our team, it`s been made clear that we are a team. It`s about more than just eleven players too, it`s about the squad. it`s about the eighteen players on a match day and the nineteenth man on match day too. It`s about the training groups throughout the week and about the whole squad, the staff and it`s a collective effort.’
