Another day, another name linked to Rangers and this time it is outgoing Derby Country captain Tom Lawrence.

The Wales international is set to leave Pride Park, following their relegation to League One in England and a long, difficult path through administration and ownership wrangles.

The report comes from the Daily Mail, with one side said to be leading the race for his signature:

“West Brom are leading the chase for Derby County forward Tom Lawrence.”

“The 28-year-old Wales international is available when his contract ends this month and has a number of clubs keen to sign him.

“However, they face competition for Lawrence from Sheffield United, Watford and Rangers who all recognise the value Lawrence offers as a free. He has scored 37 goals in 185 games for Derby since joining the club from Ipswich in 2017. “

Lawrence will be looking to put a troublesome time at Derby behind him with a fresh start at a new club, with plenty more to look forward to.

The player will surely be World Cup bound with his Wales teammates later this year, as he approaches what should be the best years of his career.

Are Rangers likely to be interested? That remains to be seen, but Lawrence has a decent pedigree and will be a solid addition for the club who wins his signature over the next couple of weeks.

Whilst he usually a left sided player for club and country, it is on the opposite flank at Ibrox where the priority signing should arrive in due course.
