The Scottish Cup season continued with the fifth round with these games played over the weekend.

Clubs that would have been expected – in the main – advanced to the last eight. It was convincing for Celtic but more of a challenge for Rangers. Holders Hibernian drew at rivals Hearts.

Here’s a round up of the action from the other games played.

Sunday 12th February 2017 – SCOTTISH CUP – FIFTH ROUND
Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Hibernian 12:30
Rangers 2-1 Greenock Morton 15:00

There wasn’t any upset at all at Celtic Park with runaway Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic making light work of Inverness to move into the quarter-finals with a 6-0 win.

Ayr and Clyde along with Dunfermline and Hamilton will have to replay for the right for a place in the last eight after 1-1 draws.

St Mirren just did enough to edge out East Fife in a five goal thriller when the visitors recorded a 3-2 victory.

A solitary goal was enough for Aberdeen – again challenging to be runners up in the Premiership – to see off Ross County 1-0. The same scoreline meant Partick Thistle advanced at the expense of St Johnstone.

Sunday’s lunchtime kick off saw a derby end goalless. Holders Hibernian – on course for the Scottish Championship title and promotion back to the Premiership – drew with rivals Hearts 0-0 so an Easter Road replay will be needed.

Rangers – fresh from the departure of Mark Warburton on Friday – just did enough to edge out Championship side Greenock Morton. The Gers ran out 2-1 victors at Ibrox.
