Rangers’ Scottish Championship season continued with a win at Ibrox against Falkirk on Saturday.

When Shiels had Rangers ahead early on many might have thought ‘here we go again’ but the Gers were pegged back by Vaulks with Falkirk looking on for a draw until two late goals from Tavernier and Wallace meant a ninth successive Championship win was secured in this three-one win.

It couldn’t have really been a better start for Rangers with Shiels (3) scoring early on. Shiels and Waghorn, the hat-trick hero last week, combined with a Waghorn back-heel allowing Shiels to do the rest.

Falkirk, who also came into this unbeaten even if they didn’t have a 100% record to match Rangers, were level when a fine Vaulks (17) strike left Foderingham with no chance. His acrobatic celebration was equally, if not more so, as impressive!

The lead was almost restored when another flowing Rangers move saw Wallace pick out Holt, his effort seemed certain to finish in the back of the net but Falkirk ‘keeper Rogers made a fine save to turn the effort over.

Waghorn wasn’t able to add to his goals tally before the break either; having worked an opening he couldn’t hit the target with his effort going wide.

Shiels forced another save out of Rogers in the second half but that was about as close as Rangers came with a one-all draw looking on, in fact Falkirk almost won it when a Taiwo shot got away from Foderingham but the Gers ‘keeper recovered before Baird was able to get onto the loose ball.

If a freekick is given away within shooting distance around the box all clubs will be worries and Tavernier (81) again showed why when he curled a freekick into the corner to restore the Rangers lead in the final 10-minutes.

Kerr cleared a Miller effort off the line, after he had rounded Rogers and looked set to score, with Wallace (90) making sure of another Rangers win when he fired home another fine goal from 20-yards in injury-time.

Still we take nothing for granted but the toughest challenge to date has been overcome and that further strengthens the Rangers position of dominance!
