Our archives have just came back online, so what better time to have a dig into them and be nostalgic?

November 2005… Vital Rangers was born. Just one month after the Vital Football network had started, I was tempted to bring my independent planetrangers.co.uk website over to Vital Football by the founder, Mr Jonathan Fear.

It was an easy decision for me. Planet Rangers had been going strong for five years, and I thought that joining this new ambitious network would a great opportunity. Five years later we are still here, albeit after a short break by myself.

The Planet Rangers name has kind of died, but nevertheless, Vital Rangers as it is now known is one of the longest running Rangers fan sites on the web. It launched as Planet Rangers in September 2000 so we are nearly ten years old.

Anyway, onto the archives, and as I said, Planet Rangers came over to the Vital family in November 2005, towards the end of the Alex McLeish era at Rangers. The first article was a match report on a very disappointing 2-0 defeat to THEM: Eck on the brink

Now onto probably the craziest of all rumours ever posted on the site. Alex McLeish was still manager of the club, but the writing was on the wall for him and we were all speculating about his replacement before he was even gone. I give you this rumour: Sir Alex for Ibrox?

How about a belated 2005 christmas present for Rangers fans? The signing of Kris Boyd!: Rangers sign Kris Boyd

Finally in the first part of our dig into the archives… the arrival of a certain French manager: Gers confirm Le Guen as boss
