Villa “100%” tipped to go for £6m rated Gers star

Rangers' Filip Helander in action with FC Porto's Francisco Soares during Europa League - Group G tie

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on world economics and football will no doubt also feel the pinch caused by the absence of fans and a drop in revenue which could affect the transfer market.

However, despite a report in Football Insider, this doesn’t mean that Rangers are about to sell a player of Filip Helander’s worth for £6million. Yet to lose a Scottish Premiership fixture, a regular for Sweden who will play in the European Championships and only just approaching his peak as a centre-half at 27-years old.

The former Bologna defender has recently been rumoured to be a target for Premier League sides Aston Villa and Leicester City and former Villan, Gabriel Agbonlahor, believes that at £6m, the giant stopper would be a bargain:

“100 per cent.

“For that sort of fee, there will be a lot of Premier League clubs looking at him. It’s only £6million.

“But money’s tight because of the pandemic. Teams will only go for him if they need him.”

No wonder, when you consider some of the fees that Premier League sides pay for Championship players, someone of Helander’s calibre would usually have a “0” after the “6” – is Harry Maguire really £80m better than him?

This is going to be a key window for Rangers coming up, one that will surely be the end of accepting derisory offers for key players and one that will finally see us at least match – if not better – the revenue that those from the east end have been generating for selling players, the last pillar of a business model that is well on it’s way to being a resounding success.
