Former Ranger Andy Halliday has shared word of glowing reports that he has received about Malik Tillman.

The US international has arrived from Bayern Munich in order to play and to progress, having made a breakthrough at the Bavarian giants over the last season, as well as being a regular for their B team in recent times.

Tillman has one eye on the World Cup and believes that further exposure, particularly on the European stage at Ibrox, can seal his place in the USMNT squad.

He has seemingly made quite an impression already in training, as revealed by current Hearts player Andy Halliday, in his regular Open Goal slot.

Discussing Rangers close season business with anchor Si Ferry, Halliday said of his former club:

“They signed Ben Davies for £4 million, Souttar has played the last couple of friendlies but Davies will play, if they’re paying £4mil.”

“I like the boy Matondo, Rangers have been crying out for someone on that right hand side for about three years now.

“I’ve actually heard stories that the boy Tillman is really good. I heard he’s very, very good.”

“The important thing for Rangers is they signed the positions they needed. I still would like to see another striker. There’s been rumours about Roofe (going on loan) and Morelos is only just back training.”

Promise

The Rangers supporters got their first glimpse of Tillman last weekend against Spurs with his late cameo. He didn’t look out of place against top opposition and showed a few nice touches. He got further game time just one day later in the closed doors game against Queen’s Park, but it is likely that he will be brought up to speed in the coming weeks.

He is probably a wee bit behind his teammates in their readiness for the new season, but he can still make an impact that is for sure.

Coming from Bayern Munich, Malik Tillman’s pedigree and technical ability is assured, now it is all about showing just what he is capable of, and to have even more people spreading the word.
