Rangers target Joey Veerman has commented on his future, in a report carried by the press in the Netherlands.

Unfortunately for all at the Ibrox club, it is not the desired reaction as the talented Heerenveen playmaker has intimated that he sees his next move with Serie A as the destination.

It is Hellas Verona who are leading the chase and attracting the £7.6 million rated 23-year old – as reported by Football Oranje:

“I would like to take this step, yes.”

“Hellas Verona seems like a very nice club. They finished tenth in Serie A last season.”

“Moreover, Verona is a beautiful city, ten-minute drive from Lake Garda. I used to go there on holiday.”

These words give a strong indication on the player’s intentions but a deal has not yet been threashed out between the clubs.

With Verona reportedly offering €5 million at present, Veerman remains hopeful:

“It is exciting. But we will see what will happen – I hope that a club will soon reach an agreement with Heerenveen.”

Stacked

With Rangers capture of John Lundstram, there is some doubt as to whether another significant arrival will follow for the Gers engine room, certainly not unless any departures follow.

With Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Stephen Kelly and Nnamdi Oforborh already in situ, Steven Gerrard is quite stacked for middle men, especially with the new signing in the shape of the former Sheffield United man, Lundstram.

With Veerman, he has some similarity to Joe Aribo and Ianis Hagi in that he could play in a middle three or further forward behind the striker and most likely as a ‘false 10’ as well, given his skill set and quality.

For now, it appears that this one is out of reach, with the northern Italian club Hellas Verona in pole position to land the Dutchman.
