Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has backed Managing Director Stewart Robertson’s critical comments on the Scottish FA and BBC Scotland this week, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

In a video posted to the official Rangers Twitter account, Robertson called out BBC highlights programme Sportscene for disproportionately targeting Alfredo Morelos and influencing the SFA disciplinary process by focusing on incidents that referees missed.

Gerrard was asked by the media this morning whether he agreed.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he simply said: “I’m totally behind the managing director and the statement. The board are handling it and I trust them on it.”

Clearly the retrospective action from the SFA has frustrated Gerrard and the club all season, and quite rightly so.

Sportscene is an incredibly negative hour of television, often trying to provoke its own controversy rather than fairly reviewing the weekend’s action.

What they choose to highlight ultimately seems to be what the Hampden decision makers decide to look at, with the compliance officer handing out random and inconsistent bans throughout the season.

With the club now engaged in a public war of words with both institutions, hopefully we will begin to see change.
