Andrew Mitchell and Scott Gallagher have left the club on loan, and Steve Simonsen has signed a deal until the end of the season.

After previously announcing that Andrew Mitchell had the possible chance of a loan at Annan, and that Scott Gallagher had interest from Airdrie, the club can now confirm that both players have moved to those clubs on three month loan deals.

In turn, Rangers have now secured the signing of 34 year old goalkeeper Steve Simonsen on a free transfer until the end of the current campaign.

Simonsen began his career down in England with Tranmere Rovers before having spells at Everton, Stoke, Sheffield United, Preston and ultimately Dundee last season.

The 34 year old has played 388 career games in all competitions during his long career, making an additional 11 appearances from the bench and he’ll provide good experienced back up for Cammy Bell during this campaign, and given his age and experience you’d hope he’ll be able to help teach the youngsters a trick or two also in training.
