Once again, Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a move to Turkey as the striker prepares to enter the last six months of his Rangers contract.

To be specific, it is Fenerbahce who are said to have the frontman in their sights although he is said to be included on a short-list of three attackers with a view to any World Cup injures picked up by Enner Valencia and Michy Batshuayi with the Fener pair set to represent Ecuador and Belgium, respectively.

Lyon’s Moussa Dembele is thought to head the list, with Morelos’ compatriot Luis Muriel of Atlanta next in contention. All three attackers are out of contract in the Summer as things stand, so there is also an understanding from the Turkish side that any deals done could also commence at the start of the next campaign.

The report came from Fanatik in Turkey, which included the following:

“The Colombian star, whose contract with Rangers will expire at the end of the season, decided to leave the team after losing his place in the first 11 this season (discipinary issue before game in Eindhoven). After this development, his manager, who started looking for a club in Morelos, contacted Fenerbahçe.”

“The Yellow-Navy Blues included Morelos, with whom they had interviews at the beginning of the season, on their list. If Fenerbahçe does not get results in Dembele and Muriel’s attempts, they will eventually turn to Morelos.”

Appeal

At face value, this is the kind of move you could see happening at this stage of developments.

The Buffalo’s time in Glasgow appears to be winding down, unless a dramatic reversal of form on the pitch can be found. With the application and output of Morelos just now, why would Rangers be putting a new lucrative offer on the table for him?

At the same time, potential suitors of the Colombian international will also be monitoring his present impact, or lack of it, on the pitch which will limit his options if he is to go to move away from Ibrox in the coming weeks or months. For the benefit of player and club, more is needed even in the short-term from Alfredo Morelos.
