A few days ago, a report by Mailsport via the Daily Record, suggested that we were interested in versatile defender James Lawrence from Anderlecht in Belgium.

At the age of 26, he is in his prime years and can operate in the centre of defence, out at left-back or as a holding midfielder.

Certainly, he would appear to tick several boxes – particularly with the lack of defensive options we have got in certain areas of the pitch.

And, indeed, in a potential boost for us, the Daily Record is now reporting that he could well be up for a move back to the United Kingdom in the summer window.

Anderlecht have a new manager, of course, in Vincent Kompany and if he cannot persuade Lawrence to stay put this summer there seems every chance that he could be on the way.

And, if the report is to be believed, he wants to come back to these shores, so Rangers could be well placed to make this deal happen.
