With Rangers battling well in the Scottish Premiership and sitting level on 31 points with Celtic at the top of the table, manager Steven Gerrard has understandably not taken too many risks when it comes to our next crop of talented youngsters.

Development Squad coach Graeme Murty has been speaking this week about the advice that he and others in our Development setup pass onto our hopeful stars of the future, and the message is incredibly simple. With 2019 seeing our reserve and Under 18 lads crowned league Champions, along with further success at Scottish Youth and AI Kass Cups – the recent 5-0 victory over Celtic was another positive boost at that level – but the players simply can’t stop there, they have to want more and believe that they can take the place of our ‘names’ if they are to succeed.

All our seniors have their parts to play on that front, but Morelos certainly shows how a younger player can impress and make their mark despite being a relative unknown when he arrived.

It’s then down to the individual player to take that chance, as others have done before them.
