Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Rangers are still working on a variety of incoming deals heading into the last few weeks of the transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Gers have already signed a massive ten players since the former Liverpool man arrived at Ibrox, wasting now time in the attempt to build a team that can challenge for major honours in Scotland this season.

Most of them have been featuring heavily in Gerrard’s first team in the early European action, with him clearly seeing the arrivals as improvements on what was there previously.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming clash against Croatian side NK Osijek, the manager has confirmed that adding to the squad is still a priority.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Gerrard said:

We have tried to add players who are hungry, the idea was to have two quality players in each position.

It’s no secret we are still looking to add a few pieces to the jigsaw. This will be a different team from last year.

I can’t speak on last season but the mentality of my players will be there and we will have winners on the pitch and winners on the bench.

We don’t just want numbers, we want quality. We know our targets and who we will go after.

It certainly sounds as if at least two or three first team signings are on the cards before end of August and it’s great to hear that they will all be of the quality to compete for a place in Gerrard’s side.

We know the club are pursuing Kyle Lafferty and also a left-sided centre-back. That leaves perhaps a creative attacking midfielder to be added to the squad before the manager considers the jigsaw complete.

We’re certain of an exciting August ahead.
