This transfer would be disastrous for Rangers

Steven Gerrard has been extremely busy in the transfer window, attempting to assemble the best squad to disrupt Celtic’s dominance. And, while the Gers have completed astute additions, they face the possibility of losing one of their best players in the form of Josh Windass.

As the Daily Express reports, newly-promoted Cardiff City are poised to pay the release clause for Rangers’ attacking midfielder, Josh Windass. It was reported that the Bluebirds manager, Neil Warnock, was hoping to pay in the region of £2M for the Englishman’s services, but it seems that they’re now willing to pay £3M for the 24-year-old.

The 24-year-old demonstrated his significance to Rangers last season, as he scored a sensational total of 18 goals in 41 appearances for the Gers. To have a midfielder who flaunts such influence is a tremendous asset, and his departure is likely to have a severe impact on the quality of Rangers’ attack.

In addition to his marvellous goal-scoring antics, Windass is regarded for his technical proficiency and his tactical adaptability. Windass can play confidently as a left midfielder or as a striker, which provides teams with invaluable versatility.

At the age of 24, there is considerable time for the former Accrington midfielder to improve, and refine his attributes, which again serves as a blow to Rangers. The Englishman has the potential to become an excellent player, and his departure would significantly weaken the quality of Rangers’ starting eleven.
