Rangers transfer target Kyle Lafferty is set for a Hearts exit this summer, with the Gers one of three clubs vying for his signature, according to The Daily Record.

The paper say that while the Ibrox side are set to return with a second, improved bid beyond their initial £200,000 offer, Qarabag of Azerbaijan and FC Seoul of South Korea are also preparing deals for the 30-year-old forward.

However, The Record do suggest that Lafferty, who is rated at £750,000 by Hearts, is keen on a return to Glasgow.

There’s also an interesting piece of information in the report that surely makes his exit from Tynecastle inevitable?

The paper say that there is a clause in Lafferty’s contract that sees his weekly wage drop significantly in the second year of the two-season deal that he signed last summer.

That puts the Gers in pole position to turn his head before the end of the transfer window.

After a successful 19 goal haul last season for the Edinburgh side, he is clearly a player who still has the ability to make an impact in the Scottish Premiership and as an alternative option to Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq, a return to Ibrox could be excellent for all parties.

To put into context, that goal tally last season is more than he managed in any single season during his first spell at the club.

Are we now sure to see the Northern Ireland international return to the club?
