Everybody stay calm, stay calm.

A twitter post this afternoon from Rangers has heavily hinted at a new kit influenced by the iconic 1994/95 lilac European strip.

Yes, that one!

The same shirt of which originals are highly sought after to this day as well as the modern reproductions.

Now the ‘iconic’ status can be disputed. Critics scoff at that suggestion given that it was only worn once in a competitive game – a 2-1 loss to Motherwell at Fir Park, following on from an appearance at Ibrox in the pre-season game against Sampdoria in the summer of 1994.

Either this is set to follow very soon or Rangers socials team have gone for an epic troll, on a day when the support is already very energised and excited.

If a ‘re-make’ of this 90s classic does follow, it will be a very popular release, of that there is no doubt.

A few years ago in 2015/16, a purple shirt with a diamond design by Puma was launched but it never really held a chance due to the long running feud between Rangers and Sports Direct, who were firmly in control over the club’s kit and merchandise operations at that time.

Those shackles are no longer in place, so now all that remains is the big reveal…or not.

The confirmation of the third kit will be highly anticipated, we should not have long to find out.
