These comments from Rangers 26-year-old should worry fans

Rangers defender Borna Barisic believes there’s a ‘sad atmosphere’ around the club right now after a series of poor results, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Steven Gerrard’s side have failed to win their last four matches, exiting the Scottish Cup at the hands of Aberdeen and falling further behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The chances of silverware this season are now incredibly slim and fans have been asking serious questions about the future direction of the club.

Unfortunately the rut appears to be having a negative psychological effect on the squad and club itself, according to Barisic.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said:

Rangers are a massive club with huge expectations. But the last few matches we have not been at the standard required at Rangers so the atmosphere around the club is sad.

We got knocked out of the cup and we really wanted to get to the final.

For me on a personal level, I am injury free and there are no problems. I’ve had a turbulent first half of the season at Rangers with injuries, but it’s all good now.

Fans would obviously be hoping for an attitude of defiance in the face of adversity from Gerrard’s team but if the mood is low at the training ground and in the dressing room it points to a depressing end of the season for everyone.

We have a massive match against Celtic coming up and although it may not change the destination of the title, we still have plenty to play for in terms of pride and giving supporters a good time.

If we now wilt under the pressure of negative results, nobody will be looking favourably at the manager.
