Rangers winger Eros Grezda is feeling ‘very good’ after an extended period out of action with injury and is now determined to play as much as he can, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Grezda made his first appearance of 2019 on Saturday at home to Kilmarnock, livening up a team bereft of creativity and incisiveness in recent weeks.

His last appearance prior to that was way back in December and to date he’s made just seven starts since making the big money switch from Croatian side NK Osijek last summer.

It’s led to some labelling him as a flop, but injury problems have been the primary reason for his lack of action and it’s clear he still has ambitions to ‘make it’ at Ibrox.

He’s now opened up on his fitness issues and how he’s hoping the international break will kick-start his return, telling The Scottish Sun:

I had a very difficult time in the last two months.

When I was injured and they [the doctors] told me it was serious, the first thing that came to mind is not to lose my role in the national team.

So during the time I was injured, I worked as hard as I could to meet those challenges.

I trained privately with coaches and did extra to make sure I returned as quickly as possible. I came back to the team at the weekend and I feel very good.

We have a lot of players who are in great shape and have played more football recently, but as long as I am here [with Albania] I will make myself available for every minute.

Given he has put in the hard graft to get back to fitness, detailing extra training sessions, I don’t think it’s time to quite write off Grezda yet, especially since his substitute appearance on Saturday as so encouraging.

He can give us a real threat on the flanks and the priority should now be giving him a run of games in the team.

There’s no doubt his debut season has been a frustrating one for everyone, but there’s plenty of time yet to make his mark on the first-team and hopefully manager Steven Gerrard is ready to let him finally show fans what he can do with some starts in the near future.
