Rangers fans are excited about the potential of youngster Josh McPake after watching him in action during last night’s Scottish Youth Cup final at Hampden.
The young Gers emerged as 3-2 victors against rivals Celtic to win the trophy for the first time in five years, excellent reward for a fine season of development.
Many players caught the eye, goalscorers Dapo Mebude and Nathan Young-Coombes among them, but 17-year-old McPake was one of the real stand-outs with plenty singling him out as the best player on the pitch across both squads.
The young winger was a real threat throughout, upstaging much-hyped Celtic talents such as Karamoko Dembele and drawing comparisons to some Ibrox greats of the past.
With Steven Gerrard and Director of Football Mark Allen in attendance at Hampden, surely it won’t be long before we start hearing much more about his Rangers future?
Supporters will certainly be paying more attention moving forward.
These fans took to Twitter last night to share their delight with his performance…
Enjoyed the youth cup final there. But Josh McPake looked a class above everyone else. Hope he gets some first team exposure soon.
