“The Best Team Won” – Celtic Man Says Those Words Rangers Fans Love To Hear

Rangers fans before a European match

With Rangers taking a first proper step in righting our recent record against Celtic this weekend with victory at Ibrox earlier today, it was certainly a match that should be a massive boost for all at the club as we go into the second half of the 2018/19 Premiership campaign.

Drawing ourselves level on points at the top of the table – granted a game in hand and goal difference – with a sterling front foot performance, Rangers showed exactly what they were capable of and manager Steven Gerrard will be looking for repeat performances in the future, as determination and battle like that will see us take far more points than we drop moving forward.

In fairness, performances like that would’ve seen us pick up far more points already given some of the draws we’ve taken this year.

With Gerrard and Rangers’ players taking delight in the result, I thought Brendan Rodgers’ words post-game were worthy of highlighting, as whilst he was respectful in the main, he can only have hated describing our performance like this.

“I thought the best team won. Rangers played well. We had a lot of unforced mistakes and didn’t create as much as we would like so we’ve got no excuse. We brought pressure onto ourselves at times with poor decision-making. They’ll feel the hurt of losing a Celtic v Rangers game and hopefully that will make them better going forward.”

Even former Celtic man Pat Bonner had to offer.

“It’s a big, big victory for Rangers and Steven Gerrard. I’m surprised it’s been so one-sided. They’ve bossed the game and deserved their victory.”
