‘The best I’ve ever seen’ – Plenty of Rangers fans were in awe of one man last night

Rangers had to settle for a point at home to La Liga side Villarreal at Ibrox on Thursday, leaving Steven Gerrard’s side with an uphill struggle to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.

A harsh Daniel Candeias sending off in the first half left us with too big a challenge to pick up the three points we needed to take top spot in the Group G table.

We will now need a win away to Rapid Vienna on matchday six to make it to the last 32 of the competition.

It could have been worse though if not for one player – Allan McGregor.

The veteran goalkeeper was again absolutely immense between the sticks for the Gers, saving two one-on-one chances for Villarreal attacker Karl Toko Ekambi to keep the scores level.

The shot-stopper has made crucial saves throughout our European run and if we do make it to next stage, it will be mostly down to the fan favourite.

These fans couldn’t get enough of his performance last night and took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
